Q. How do I find the Assessor's Office in the Government Center?
A. Click Here for Directions.

Q. When is the Assessor's Office open?
A. Holiday Schedule

Q. What Fees are charged by the Assessor?
A. Assessment Fees

Q.  How do I calculate my property taxes?
A.
You take the total Assessed Value and multiply it by the Millage (move decimal 3 places to the left).
E.g.  $100,000 * 5.313 = $531,300.00 which = $531.30 in taxes

Q. My taxes are too high, how can I get them lowered?
A.
File an appeal with the Lawrence County Board of Assessment Appeals.  Application can be downloaded here

Q. What is the Fair Market Value of my Property?
A.
Total Assessment divided by Common Level Ratio
E.g.  $100,000 / .912 = $109,650.

Q. How do I determine where my property lines are?
A.
The only true way to determine your official property lines is to survey your property.  The Lawrence County Assessment Office has Tax Map that can show you an approximate location of your property, but there is nothing official about a tax map.
