is Aid & Attendance, and what are the qualifications?

A. A & A is for
veterans or their widows who are in need of financial assistance and
are in a nursing home, assisted living home, or have a caregiver. The
veteran must have active duty for 90 days of service and at least
one day of wartime. Applicants who receive Medical Assistance (Medicaid) will receive $90 a month for personal use. For other

A. VA State Emergency
Assistance is available to those who meet the following requirements:
· Veterans must have served
active duty in the US Armed Forces during the established war services dates, and can not have a dishonorable discharge;
OR
·
Veterans having actively
served during peacetime dates must have either the Expeditionary Medal
or the Southwest Asia Service Medal shown on the DD214.
· Must be a resident of
Pennsylvania.
· Must have a sudden
unexpected loss within the last six months due to sickness, disability
unemployment, or other cause beyond his or her control.
· Upon recent death of a
veteran, widows or orphan children are eligible if they demonstrate an
urgent financial need, and provided the veteran had met the necessary
military service requirements.
There are also some resources for
veterans or surviving spouses needing other types of assistance. Some
of these may include: food, furniture or appliances, transportation,
