  • Responsible for the Management of Lawrence County Assessment Office
  • Responsible for the development of the Office Budget
  • Responsible for  placing Values on all Properties for AD Valorum tax purposes
  • Assesses new construction throughout the County.
  • Must be on call to respond when the EOC is activated
  • Works Closely with Lawrence County Tax Claim Bureau & Treasurer’s Office
  • Maintains County’s GIS System
  • Maintains County’s Clean and Green Program
  • Certifies Assessed Values for each taxing district
  • To testify at the Board of Assessment Appeals or Court as to the values of the properties
  • Responsible for the creation of all tax files for the generation of all tax bills

 

Bruce Peterson
Senior Appraiser

  • Member of the Assessor Association of Pennsylvania (AAP)
  • Member of the Northwest Chapter of AAP
  • Manages the work done by the Professional Appraiser and Field Lister
  • To locate properties and assess corresponding property records
  • To perform on-site inspections of property including obtaining physical dimensions and to record changes to the property.
  • To complete all property records accurately and completely
  • To appraise all types of properties Residential, Commercial and Industrial
  • To confer with Taxpayers for the purpose of explaining the basis factors from which the assessed values were derived.
  • To discover, list and appraise all taxable and nontaxable properties in accordance with appropriate procedures set forth by the Assessment Office.
  • To testify at the Board of Assessment Appeals or Court as to the values of the properties
  •  To perform any other project as directed by the Director of Assessment.
  • Secretary for the Lawrence County Board of Assessment Appeals.

Professional Appraiser

  • Takes care of the General Public.
  • Makes all real estate transfers in computer
  • Types all index cards of all newly transferred properties             
  • Enters in computer all sales for the State Tax Equalization Board (STEB)
  • Performs clerical duties such as filing, issuing receipts, typing forms and Notices.
  • Performs all regular duties in the office.

 

Peggy Wise
Field Lister
8 Years of Service

  • Measure all new additions and outbuildings for residential properties
  • Notify all property owners of the Change in their Assessment
  • Enter and Link sketches in computer
  • Balance sketches for Senior Appraiser and Chief Assessor
  • Perform all related work in the office
  • Sends copies of Resolutions to County, City, Boroughs and School Districts
  • Interpret and read County Maps
  • To perform on-site inspections of property including obtaining physical dimensions and to record changes to the property
  • Data Entry all Building Permits in the County
  • Data entry of all homestead applications

 

Jennifer Marburger
Office Manager
9 Years of Service

  • Types all correspondence, both confidential and non-confidential, for the Chief Assessor.
  • Prepares schedules for appeal hearings, sends appeal notices to property owners in city, boroughs, townships and school districts.
  • Transfers all mobile homes and maintains records of all mobile home courts in the County.
  • Types all forms in the office
  • Prepares all resolutions for the Board of Appeal Meetings
  • Manages all finances in the office
  • Performs all regular duties pertaining to the office.
  • Data entry of all homestead applications
  • Manages the day to day operations of the office and staff
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the Assessor’s Websites User Accounts
