Formed in 2009, the Adult Probation & Parole’s Collections Department’s role is to enforce the collection of court ordered fines, costs, fees, and restitution for all cases under the Lawrence County Court of Common Pleas. The Collections Department is located in the Adult Probation Office at 430 Court Street, New Castle, PA 16101 in the lower floor of the Domestic Relations Building. Frequently Asked Questions 1. 1. How do I find out how much I owe in fines, court costs, and restitution? Back to Top Fines, costs, and restitution information can be located online through the Court of Common Pleas System (CPCMS) at http://ujsportal.pacourts.us/.

- Click E-Services - Select and click Public Web Docket Sheets - Click on Common Pleas - Click on Other Criteria - Enter last name - Enter first name - Select Lawrence County - Select Criminal for the dockect type - Click Search - Select appropriate case from the results of the Search. Then scroll through the pages until you reach the financial information.

2. Why do I have to pay fines, court costs, and restitution? Back to Top These amounts are ordered by the Court at time of sentencing, thereby requiring the defendant to pay these amounts in full. Clients are required to enter into a monthly payment plan. Payments must be made consistently and completely to insure compliance.
3. How do I make payments on my balance? Back to Top Payments may be made in person or mailed to the Collections Department or online via the e-pay system. Payments made in person may be made in the form of cash, credit card, money order, cashier’s check.
On-line payments may be made via the ePay system. click here for ePay **users will be assessed a $2.75 non-refundable convenience fee or each transaction submitted. ePay Brochure ePay Users Guide To use a credit card, the card holder must be present with photo ID. Credit card payments will not be accepted over the telephone.
Only VISA, Mastercard and Discover credit cards will be accepted.
All payments should include a social security number and/or docket numbers.
4. When should I begin to make payments? Back to Top Payments should begin immediately after sentencing. Defendants are encouraged to remit additional monies above and beyond their payment plan in order for their case to be paid in full at the end of their supervision.
5. What will happen if I do not make payments as directed? Back to Top Probation officers and the Collection Department will monitor the case for compliance. Failure to comply with your payment plan may result in contempt of court and/or the following sanctions may apply: violation of supervision, suspension of driver’s license, reported to the credit bureau, reported to a collections agency resulting in a 25% increase in your balance, issuance of a bench warrant, and incarceration. Failure to make monthly payments will result in public assistance being terminated.
6. If I am in jail, what happens to the payment plan? Back to Top The payment plan will remain in effect and it will be expected that the client will resume payments upon release.
7. What if I move or change employment? Back to Top Upon receiving permission from your probation officer, the client must report these changes within 72 hours to the Adult Probation Office/Collections Department.
8. If I am unable to comply with my payment plan due to medical reasons, what should I do? Back to Top It is the clients responsibility to inform the Collections Enforcement Unit if they are unable to comply with their payment plan due to medical reasons. The client must provide medical verification from their physician which details the reason, duration and any work restrictions that pertain to a client’s ability to be gainfully employed.
9. What is a Supervision fee? Back to Top Pursuant to Act 35 of 1991, clients will be charged a $50.00 per month supervision fee. This fee is charged to all clients who are on active supervision. Supervision fees are charged based on the guidelines set forth in Act 35 of 1991.
10. If I am ordered to receive court ordered restitution but have not been receiving it, who do I contact? Back to Top Questions regarding the enforcement of restitution should be directed to the Collections Department at (724) 614-1100.
11. What is a Judgment? Back to Top Pursuant to 42 PA. C.S.A. 9728 (b), all defendants who have been convicted at the Court of Common Pleas receive a civil judgment. This is filed by the Adult Probation Office in the Lawrence County Prothontary’s Office. Judgments must be filed regardless if there is a payment plan or if payments are being received. Judgments may only be satisfied upon payment in full. For further information, please contact the Collections Department at (724) 614-1100.
12. How do I get detailed copies of all my case balances or payments
made to date? Detailed reports may be requested in person at the Collections Enforcement Unit.
